While I respect August Rush for trying to do something new and interesting with the musical genre of movies, it fails miserably. The acting is dry, the plot is boring, and I don't care about any of the characters. Freddie Highmore (Finding Neverland) stars as a young orphan boy who thinks he can find his parents using music. Lets be hones, that ALMOST sounds intriguing but I don't care about this punk kid at all. The way the story is told, Highmore’s character doesn't have enough screen time for me to dedicate myself into him. That problem remains mostly because the writer tried to incorporate the boys parents stories into the movie. If I don't care about the boy, why would I care about his parents. On top of that, Robin Williams stars as a horribly miscast creeper who gets kids to play music in NYC and then give him the money. Your money could be put to much better than this. Grade—C-
