Kung Fu Panda Review

Kung Fu Panda is not Ratatouille nor is it Shrek. In fact the movie isn’t even on par with anything Pixar has put out in the past 5 years. It is how ever one of the most entertaining children’s films to come out for a while.

One of the strongest aspects of the movie is the protagonist. Jack Black voices Po, a geeky panda who has dreamed and obsessed of learning the ways of Kung fu. This aspect is pushed to its full potential when he becomes the Dragon Warrior an prestigious position that the other kung fu masters think Po is unworthy of.

Dreamworks, the company putting out the movie, has really stepped up their CGI movies substantially. Not only does the movie look amazing with both rich colors and detailed characters, it also is able to do something Pixar has been king at for a long time: master clear Action sequences. They’re fluent, understandable and easy to follow with out the normal shake of the camera in live action movies.

Kung Fu Panda remains one of the best summer movies out right now. It’s laugh out loud funny, but not hitting you over the head with chuckles. Whether its staying power will hold is yet to be determined. Is it Wall-E? No. But thats ok. Grade – A-
