Best Score of 2008: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
What makes this the best score is its involvement in so many types of music. When it came down to the wire though Button has music that stands on its own. It reminds you of the movie when you hear it and brings you back to the theater.
Best Original Song of 2008: The Wrestler by Bruce Sprinsteen
Have you ever seen a one trick pony in the field so happy and free?
If you've ever seen a one trick pony then you've seen me
Have you ever seen a one-legged dog making his way down the street?
If you've ever seen a one-legged dog then you've seen me
Then you've seen me, I come and stand at every door
Then you've seen me, I always leave with less than I had before
Then you've seen me, bet I can make you smile when the blood, it hits the floor
Tell me, friend, can you ask for anything more?
Tell me can you ask for anything more?
Amazing stuff. It's on iTunes. I'd say its worth a listen.
Biggest Comeback For An Actor: Robert Downey Jr.
Ok yes, Technically Mickey Rourke had it a little harder, but Rourke came back with one movie. Robert Downey Jr. won people over with Iron Man and then proceded to use his new fame to make us laugh in Tropic Thunder. He is truly a comeback kid.
...and the random non-movie awards...
Best Video Game of 2008: Gears of War 2
Best TV Show of 2008: 30 Rock
Best new Artist of 2008: MGMT
Best Song of 2008: A-Punk by Vampire Weekend

CJ-- Here's an idea for your podcast. Chronicle the award season-- maybe cover the Golden Globes, Oscars, etc. Did the awards side with your predictions? If not, why not? I'd be interested to listen to a podcast with your commentary on this sort of stuff.
